You’re never too old for new buddies…
A 10-year-old bulldog, Harley Bruiser, and a 15-year-old golden retriever, Buckeye, were recently given 4-6 months to live following heart-breaking diagnoses.
Harley was recently diagnosed with Lymphosarcoma and Buckeye with Cholangiocellular Carcinoma. The two old timers met after they were told the bad news, and quickly formed an inseparable partnership.
Most dogs would curl up, stay calm and wait to cross the Rainbow Bridge; Not Harley and Buckeye!! It’s party time!! In the next few months they are going to be thoroughly spoilt by their loving families, whilst together, they will be sharing and reliving memorable moments with the help of their attentive owners.
Harley and Buckeye have already enjoyed a day of shopping at a doggie boutique, pet pamper day at a doggie spa, with plenty of treats and lots of hugs and affection from their family and friends, plus there’s a lot more planned…
Grace Kemp, Buckeye’s owner and a veterinarian, said “I think it’s really important to try to keep giving your pet the best quality of life till the very end.”
Since adopting Buckeye from a rescue centre when he was young and raising him as a beloved member of the Kemp clan, Kemp and her family have been there for him through thick and thin.
Buckeye often accompanies Kemp to work at her Veterinary Hospital in Ohio, helping her show what quality senior dog care can do for a pet’s physical and emotional health and well-being.
Harley, who is sadly about to cross the Rainbow Bridge, hasn’t wasted a second of the last couple of months. After years of looking out for his human family, the bulldog is being spoiled by them very much more than usual.
