There are lots of instances of dogs being found in strange places. However, the following story might be the winner when it comes to the weirdest place a dog has been located in. An unnamed stray was spotted living on a deserted island.
Nobody knew how a dog arrived at the island. It’s a hard place to reach on foot even if the tides are low. When the tides are low, the surroundings of the island turn into mud. People can walk towards the island, but it’s still a very difficult task.
The rescuers who are trying to go to the island can barely walk on the mud without getting stuck. While the rescuers were trying to get to the island, a filming crew spotted the dog crossing back to the nearby town. He didn’t struggle much with walking on mud.
When the rescuers tried to go to the dog’s location, they found out the dog had already returned to the island. The rescuers were having a tough time with this particular rescue. They had to make a better rescue plan.
The film crew observed the dog’s travel patterns for a few days. They saw how the dog would make visits to the nearby town during low tides. She would grab food from the dumpster and take it back with her. Sometimes she’ll it eat it on her way back to the island.
When high tide came, the rescuers were able to ride a boat near the island and set up a trap. The placed a large cage in a secluded area. They placed food inside as bait, and if the dog triggered the trap, she would get captured.
The rescuers waited until evening for the dog to find the trap. They observed as the dog entered the cage and ate the food. However, her paws didn’t touch the button that would trigger the trap.
The first attempt at trapping the dog was a failure. However, SBS TV, the networking who uploaded the video, will post a follow up on this story soon. Check out their channel linked below.
