What would you do, if an unaccompanied dog got on your bus and sat down next to? If you said, “well that would never happen in a million years!” you would be wrong.
If you ride the D line bus in Seattle, you may get to meet Eclipse (complete with bus pass attached to her collar), who rides the big D every day to and from the Dog Park, what’s more, she’s all by herself.
Eclipse is a local celebrity to both bus drivers and the general public. She takes a bus to a nearby park all by herself. She sits down like any other passenger and makes everybody happy with her lovely smiling face.
It all began when the black Labrador / Mastiff mix was waiting at the bus stop with her owner Jeff Young. Her human was taking fare too long to finish his cigarette, so when the bus pulled up, Eclipse got on all by herself and the bus delivered her to the park 4 stops on.
Since that day, Jeff knows he can always catch up with his best friend later on in the park.
King County allows dogs on public transport at the discretion of a driver. As Eclipse causes no offence and often brings a warm smile from weary commuters, the drivers are always more than happy to give this four-legged lady a ride.
As for the Lady herself? Well, she seems to be very proud of her independent excursions.
What a smart pooch!
